Default 5.3L Heads off Tahoe???

Anyone know anything about running the 5.3 heads on an LS1? Have basically stock 98 Z looking to do some "minor" upgrades.

Thanks

What casting are they?Or what year Tahoe? The late model Tahoes came with 243s or 799s which are the same.

Theyre probably 853 heads but they would need to be ported and polished along with valve springs and bigger valves for an improvement. If I remember correctly they do have a smaller combustion chamber as well thats why they make more compression.

If you do an upgrade, go for used 243s or 799s. Or get yours ported, no need to buy 5.3l heads, waste of time IMO. Even then, dont lift your head just for this, get at least a porting on em. They go off new ported for around 1K$.

We offer a ported 5.3L heads. They start at $1125 with 2.02/1.57 stainless valves and dual springs. 5.3L heads are good for guys on a budget. They move a good amount of air out of a 220cc runner and the smaller (62cc) chamber will make for a nice gain in compression! If you already have the heads, you can send them into us to port as well! CNC porting and CNC valvejob starts at $650! We also have several LS6 stages as well if you decide to go that way as well.

Also, remember going to a '99 and newer cylinder head, you will have to change to the center-bolt valve covers and coil brackets as the '98 cylinder heads are a perimeter bolt head. That way you aren't surprised when your valvecovers don't bolt back up!

Let us know if we can help!
