Getting a cam installed should I worry about my rockers?
I bought the TSP Custom 224R Cam: 224/224, .581"/.581", 114 LSA with double springs, tit. retainers, hardened push rods, ported ls6 oil pump, and a double roller timing set. The guy that is going to do the install warned me that the rocker arms in these cars are prone to break. If so how long do I have before I have to replace them? I spent my wad on the items mentioned above. It will be a while before I would be able to afford a set of rockers. Also, will the ls6 oil pump cause any problems with my seals?
I have a 99 Camaro SS A4 with Hooker shorties,GMS MAS, SLP lid, Yank converter, shift kit, 2.5 y-pipe with cats, Borla exhaust, and HPP3.(soon to be dyno tuned)

In the 400+ LS1 cams we have installed (most have been 224/.581 cams)with stock rockers, maybe 10 of them have broke a rocker arm. There is no doubt aftermarket rockers are better, and a nice upgrade, but they arent necessary.

I'd bet better than 90% of the cammed LS1s on this board are running the stock rockers (including myself.)
Like Cal said, just keep an eye out for needle bearings in the pan.

If the car was a 98 with that cam I'd worry about the rockers. I think the rockers will be ok, might want to change them when you do springs to something better for the rockers. This is the route I'm taking with my 99 T/A and a very simlar 224 XE-R cam. We have new rocker choices coming out almost weekly. I rushed and picked up a set of Jesels two months ago and it would have been better to wait with all the new choices coming out.
