I ran that cam on stage II LS6 style heads for about 2,000 or 3,000 miles with 918's and stock retainers. You'll be fine with them. I spun mine to the 6,800 rpm limiter several times. You should really pick up alot in the 1/4 with that cam.. it is one bad SOB.

Sorry to get off topic, Gomer do you not have that setup anymore? I notice you're using past tense. Happy late B-day BTW

Thanks for the B-day wishes! I swapped the older version LS6 style heads that were on my car to the newer pieces with the dual quench chamber a few weeks ago and when I did that.. I went with the new Patriot stock diameter dual springs. I am still running the TSP cam.

would my 3.23's be alright with this cam ?

my buddy want to sell him 216 / 220 .525 / .532 114 LSA comps cam to me for 200. I dont know what I really want to do!?!?!

This cam seems like it for a heads car.

No, you'll be fine on stock heads. TSP has done quite a few cars with this cam and stock heads. I will STRESS that you WILL need a pretty good stall, especially since you are going to keep your 3.23 gears. I am still running the 3.42's in my car and I don't have any surging or anything cruising along at low RPMs in 6th gear. This cam is a big cam and there will be ALOT of difference in how the car drives with it compared to the stocker.

It feels like the midrange is a good bit stronger, maybe a little at the peak too. I'm afraid to get too excited until I dyno it again next Friday... It may just feel that way because I had to drive my maxima so much while the heads were off the car But the "max" got it from behind last Wednesday in a nasty crash Damn women drivers.

I would be afraid to say, I've only driven my 6 speed car with this cam. Call Jason or Trevor at TSP in the morning and talk to them, they won't steer you wrong and I know that they have driven this cam in an A4 car. They are really helpful guys. But in my OPINION, I would think more along the lines of a 3,800 to 4,000.

I emailed TS and was sent this

Paul as long as you dont mind tuning I would run the 231.237 camshaft, it really shines on nitrous setups. The 114 is doable, but I usually go 112

I'm running the TSP231 on stock heads and 918's. No problems, only grins.

A friend of mine has the 231/237 cam in his A4 (stock heads with 918's) with a TCI 3500 and 3.73's and his drives pretty well, he had the 3.23's in it with the same stall for a while and said it wasn't too bad (didn't surge much). He is about to go with a bigger converter though. He drives it ALOT and has had good luck with the 918's so far as well.

I have a stock clutch and 4.10's in the 10 bolt, so launch and shifts were very conservative. I also shifted at 6400 when I should be shifting at 6600-6800 to milk this cam's potential. So, a high 11sec car w/ this cam w/ stock heads on drag radials is very possible.

what was the weather/DA like with those runs and your raceweight? I would hope to see easy mid 11's out of a cam only setup even in not so great weather with around 3400# or so.

Anyone here in Texas with this cam w/stock heads have any track results??? Need some good comparisons...also in some A4 cars.

I only ran 12.31 @ 109, 1.6, A4 @ 3550 with driver, DA 2000+/- , 3.23's and a 3000stall, AFR about 12.9:1 and 25.5* timing (tuned a little more for nitrous) Hoosier Drags, with suspension! I will say our track sucks but I hope our track sucks more than I think. On my old TR224 I ran a 12.38 once, awesome weather that run, all else the same except the 60' was a 1.53.

Charlie.
