Default Best/Safest Valve Springs for cams with...

.590-.610 lift? Which are the better working and more reliable springs? The rev duals or the iskey(which I believe are single)? This will be for a car that is a daily driver around 75 miles on it a day.
Thanks

I'm going to have to recommend the Comp 921's for that cam.

So basically for the larger cams with high lift, the iskys are out of the picture?

I'm not familiar with the Iskys. Are they a dual spring? What are they rated at? I prefer the "safety" I guess you could say of a dual spring.

We run the Crane Duals with Titanium retainers, they're considerably less expensive than some of the other options & are good to 650 lift

He asked it before I got to it!! The Iskeys are a single spring rated up to .620 lift. TTT

The new Patriot Gold Dual Springs is the way to go.It has more pressure than the crane setup and cost less than the comp.

Sean Freese, owner of MMT, has told me he uses the isky single tool room spring and has had great success with it on his high lift .600 lift Ls1 cams. He also stated that its the same design isky spring that Nascar runs. Also, a vette customer of his running a huge .625 lift cam in his stroked z06 (4.125 stroke) has about 90 dyno WOT pulls and countless WOT driving situations without an issue with the isky tool room spring.

That being the case, it seems like a GREAT SPRING, but i also would feel safer having the extra protection of a second spring to avoid a dropped valve and MAJOR DAMAGE, etc.

I would go with the Crane duals.

As for spring life, it all depends on how much you rev the hell outo f the motor. If you're just driving every day at normal throttle and only hammering it once in a while, spring life should be excellent. But, if you're driving the car with your foot in it all the time, then the springs won't last long.

Spring life is determined by the quality of the springs, how close to coil bind they are run at, and how hard you run the engine.

I can tell you that the new patriot gold duals that Terry is referring to drop right into the stock ls1 heads without any machining required!

Ok then, what springs will fit onto stock heads, or heads that haven't been machined for bigger springs?
