Default Scat I-beam rods

I was planing on running stock LS1 cracked rods, with ARP or KATECH rod bolts, but after pricing the hardware and machine shop costs to hone the stockers with the new hardware. I'd only be about $100 away from getting the foraged Scat I beams.

Here is a link to the SCAT rods http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-26100927/

would it be money well spent?

Also I already have my pistons, and my block is already honed for my pistons so I REQUIRE a stock length rod, I also have seen K1 H-beam rods in the stock length for about $200 more than the Scats, but I haven't heard anything about K1

Thanks,
Tom D

Oh and the motor is an iron 6.0L .030 over with Mahle flat top pistons. I'm hoping for 500~550hp at the crank with heads & cam. It's going to get sprayed from time to time, not sure how much I guess it depends on my weakest link. I figure if I keep the stock rods they will be the weak link.

I say go for it, looks like a nice piece. 4340 steel, 7/16" capscrew, bushed pin. Looks good.

Most anything will be an up grade over the stock powder metal rods.

I would take Sandragnx up on his offer, Manely rods are great.

I run those Scat I beams in my 370. Have put them through ~675rwhp and 7500rpm.....definitely a great upgrade for the money!

When you are looking for rods not all are the same even though they say LS on them. Make sure the PIN dia will work with your rod/piston combo. Unless you are using .927 small pin on your mahle pistons, then you can use those. otherwise its a diff part number.

and I'll bet thats what screws me out of sandragnx's manleys. When I bought my pistons I was planning on using the stock rods, so I got them with the .945 pins

Does anyone make an affordable 6.1" rod for the larger pin?

I found SCAT part # 2-ICR6100-944P which is the same rod as the one I posted a link to, but designed for a Pressed .944" pin. Can I use a rod designed for a pressed pin with a floating pin piston? It looks like the .927" rods have a bushing in the small end and the .944" rods do not.

I saw the Scat H beams, for the .944" pins P/N# 2-LS1-6100-2100-945

I don't want to have some over the top rods if my pistons or rings or crank are only mediocre at best. if that makes sense.
