sTRoker cam switch
I have a 99 trans am with a eagle 383 rolling assembly installed about 5000 miles ago. I also have 42lb injectors, a walbaro 255 fuel pump, port and polished heads, and other upgrades. I want to switch from the ls2 cheater cam i have now, i don't think it is doing the engine justice. I am looking at the sTRoker cam from thunder racing.
Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft
"sTRoker" - 248/254 - .615/.623 - 112 lsa 2400-7500 RPM Power Band. Intended for engines 6.6L (402cid) and up. Lopes hard. Strong mid-range & high RPM power. Requires computer tuning, 4000 converter on autos, 4.30's or greater depending on transmission. Works very well with nitrous and proper tuning. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended. Due to the extreme nature of this camshaft, piston to valve clearance must be verified when using modified cylinder heads.
just wondering if anyone knows about this cam or have a better suggestions

Shoot me a PM or give me a call. I can put together a custom grind to suit your needs. These guys are right, that cam is a bit too large for a 383 in most instances.
Thanks for the recommendation guys.

I'm running the 234/238 cam from AFR in my 383 stroker.
It hits 500 hp at the wheels!
i'm happy with it and laugh everytime Tony Mamo referances my cam as a "small cam" (for my setup). ANYONE that has pulled up next to me at a stop light or tried passing me on the expressway would beg to differ.

I have a 99 trans am with a eagle 383 rolling assembly installed about 5000 miles ago. I also have 42lb injectors, a walbaro 255 fuel pump, NGK AFX wide band, Crane Cam 7.400 push rods, stock rockers and lifters. I am running stock manifolds with 2.5in duals all the way out with two flow masters and no cats. My heads were port and polished at Linn Tech where I went to school for auto mechanics, they were on a flow bench but i did not go to town on them it was light work. I ported the throttle body also and put in a double roller timing chain. The transmission is a T56 with a ls7 clutch and it was rebuilt around 20000 miles ago. I have the stock rear end in it still with stock suspension. All mods tuned with hp tuners.
I want to but don't have the money for yet:
struts and shocks
Moroso rear end
AFR heads
Fast intake
Adjustable swing arm
roll cage (when I have to have it for the track lol)
What I want out of this motor is. Good power from (2000-7000) rpm. I want to run it naturally aspirated. And i am looking to do road course and quarter mile.

with a stock intake and lightly worked heads your gonna choke a big cam out on top, and with your goals you dont need a 7500+ rpm cam. and get some headers for sure. stock manifolds are gonna kill you plain and simple. spec a cam that peaks much lower and has alot of nuts in the mid range if your wanting to auto X the car. what are the specs on your cheater cam?
