Anyone have an uninstalled GMPP LS1 Hot Cam?
I'll start by saying I bought a used GMPP Ls1 hot cam from a member of this site... I want to make a point of saying I am NOT saying anything that should lead you to believe he is not honest or that I think he sent me something other than what he said it was.
That being said, I bought an engine out of a 1998 camaro that I was told was stock. Durring the rebuild, nothing looked as though it wasnt stock. I decided to get a bigger cam and I found a used GMPP Hot Cam on this forum. It came in today and the cam that came out of the motor has noticably more lobe lift. The "GMPP" cam I got looks to be not a production peice because there is machining marks where the one that came out looks cast.
I'm just trying to find someone who has a Hot Cam1 that they have not installed yet to look at the numbers on the back side of it and post them up just for my piece of mind. Even if the cam that came out of the motor is an aftermarket cam that is larger than the hot cam, I would rather use the hot cam anyway.
thanks

It should have either a part number or Hot Cam scribed on the end of the cam. I have had 2 and this first one had the part # only scribed on it and the most recent one had Hot Cam .525 scribed on it. If there is nothing on it at all, I would be a little leary of putting it in.

looking at cams by eye can be misleading because most of the time the base circle of the aftermarket cam has been altered to gain lift and still physically fit in the engine therefore you won't be able to tell really what it is untill you put it in the engine and degree and actually measure the lobe lift ect fwiw an btw that looks like a hot cam to me
