Default good set up???

ok my b-day is coming up on the 17th and im turning the big 1 8. so after many hours of convincing my parents to let me buy a cam they agreed. its a 01 T/A, A4 transmission, lid, bbk LT hearders, and a cut out. so this is the set up im thinking about getting. its the texas speed 228R 112 lsa. with 918 springs. by the way this is my DD when the sun decides to do its job and heat the earth here in Michigan. if there are any objections please let me know cuz i dont wanna **** up on somethin like this. thanks

good cam selection but dont forget to add a stall and tranny cooler to that list as well. and upgraded pushrods, timing chain, oil pump, gaskets, bolts, and a TUNE. $$$$

yup... i would go with a yank ss3600. i love mine but wish i went bigger like a 3800 or 4000. ull need a trans cooler, and i would also do a ls6 ported oil pump and double roller chain. oh and also a pulley. youre already down there so i would do it all at the same time. whats your budget and goals for it?

You need a minimum of a 3200 to keep your car pulling out of the hole. 4k would be a much better matched combo.

The 228R matched with a Yank 3600 stall will make for a very streetable combo and will run strong at the track. I ran that combo for 2 years. My car made 400 rwhp 375rwtq and ran a best of 11.66 @ 116 full weight on 17in. M/T Drag Radials.

A4 go with the 114 lsa. It still has a very choppy idle. I'm running this cam with a 4K stall. It has great mid range power.
