Cam for highish CR 5.3
Me and a friend are in the process of building up a 03' 5.3. We plan to have the CR around 11:5:1 or so, with a fast LSX RT intake, PRC stage 2.5 heads, longtubes ect. I always hear good things about running the TSP torquer v3 and the comp 228 with the prc heads as they work well together but most people are referring to 5.7's. I was wondering if anyone had ran a cam that big in their 5.3 with the compression to deal with and how it acted and performed. We're shooting for close to 500hp hopefully with decent midrange power. thanks

What is it in? Truck car? And is it street driven? Sounds alot like the setup im fixing to go with. The 228 is a damn good cam but pending on the application I would say custom grind.

It's going in an s10, im getting ready to do another 5.3 swap and yes it will be daily driven but not for very many miles a day. I was just wondering if there was an off the shelf cam that works well with this setup but im sure it's not done too much with a 5.3 so I might give comp a call and see what they think is best.

I had Pat G Spec a cam for my 5.3 build for my 84 camaro, and i personally wouldnt get a off the shelf cam as most are intended and designed for the larger 5.7 engines. Just my 2 cents, get a custom.
