I'd really like to know if my car has the ls6 cam

I have an '04 GTO (8/04 production) and have swapped cams. The takeout cam is NOT the ls6 cam. It's just the stock LS1 cam.

Bummer would have been cool everyone around here says I have one of the best running 04s for a auto just wondering why it was a tad bit faster then my buddies

if you had a ls2 you would've had the 01 z06 cam.

Any help. Please. Building ls cast block ls3 heads automic Msd intake .
I am torn between what cam to use. Livernois stage2c l92 High lift,
Tick performance street heat stage 2ls3 l99
Tx speed tsunami v2.

Here's the truck info 69 suburban 513 gears 40" tires. 4l80e tranny

Who wants to give some advice

will the ls6 cam work in a 4.8 with out doing alot of changes I’m trying to get 400 out of the motor with 100 shot nos for the track i picked this motor up for free 67,000 miles

It will work, but you lose a lot of low end power. I assume you mean the LATE cam which is 204/218 duration and about .550 lift. The early cam which is 204/211 and .525 lift would actually serve you better as it has much stronger low end power. This is the same grind as the LS2, but the LS2 does not have the cam sensor rings on the cam.
