Default LQ4 block casting

There is a cast rectangular block protruding from the block on my engine on the top left side of the block just above the oil cooler fittings on the pan. I need to zip this thing off so I can mount my ScoggnsDickey clutch cross shaft mount for my old Corvette. Just making sure I'm not going to run into an oil galley or something. Anybody know if there's any problem cutting that thing off?.
Also, does anyone know if the Bellhousing dowels are the same from SBC to LSx engine?
Thanks
, Frank
