Default Can LS1 heads be used on a 42x c.i. motor?

Can LS1 heads hogged out flow enough for a 42x c.i. motor or are they useless when talking about big motors?

I see everyone has LS6 heads that goes for a larger motor.

They're not useless but they'll be minus ~20-25 RWHP.

Can't you go with 6.0 liter heads and get the same performance on a large cube engine? I though the 6.0 liters had the same ports as LS6 heads, but they just have the monstro combustion chambers, which on a big cube motor should bring the compression to just about right.

Big cube = more compression?

Bigger cubes = mucho more compression. If I put these milled heads on the 427 I am building, rather than 10.8:1 compression like I have now on the 346, it would go up to something like 13.0:1!

The 6 liter heads do work VERY well. I would run them in a second. The LS1 heads would work just fine too. It's your pocket book so it's your choice. But my vote is for 6.0's speaking from personal experience.
