Default What cam would you choose?

I am thinking of doing a cam and really don't know what would be a good choice..

This is the stats on the car:
Stock 853 heads
Ls6 Intake
Pacesetter LT's 1 3/4
SS Yank 3600 Stall
Automatic Tranny
Slp Air Lid

I drive it every day and also take it to the 1/4 mile track couple times a month....

So post up some options for a cam, pushrods, lifters, etc..... Thanks

Im gonna say no bigger then a TR228 or a 228r. The reason I say that is bc of your converter. I ran my TR224 with a 3200 converter and it was good but still had a little dead area of the mid rpms. I switched to an SS4K and wow, big difference, no dead spots at all. Power is available all the time and the motor never seems to be working very hard. I think that if you got into the lower 230s cams, although it will be driveable, you will feel mid rpm bog between the converter flash speed and the start of the cams powerband.

228/228 or 228/232 112 stuff imo. But a 236/242 on a 110 is badass with your combo (you need more gear), but not so friendly to drive everyday. (to much overlap) Manley 7.400 pushrods will be fine also, with either of three cams listed.

I say call some vendors and tell them what you want to do with the car, how your going to drive it, and what mods you already have, and then let them custom grind or reccomend a cam for you.

Depends on what your after driving wise. But for a good street/strip cam the 228r sounds legit. I am thinking of going with that one myself.

Yeah, your combo looks way to radical and never done before, I think you might need a custom grind? LMFAO Get a grip guys, there plenty of shelf cams and profiles out there to fill his needs and get the job done!

That is all you here in any cam thread in this area. Get a "Custom Grind". There are no off the shelf cams that will work they are all dyno cams.

228R. Drives great and makes nice power. My car went a best of 11.64 @ 116 on 17s when my car was cam only with basically your same mods.

Some people don't want something that just gets the job done, they would prefer to get exactly what they are looking for. So instead of some blowhards on a forum telling him what cam to get, he can talk to guys that actually know what the **** is going on. It's free info, why not take advantage of it?

Here is a suggestion, don't read the cam threads.

228/230 112 or 114 LSA, LS7 lifters, Manton pushrods, LS2 timing set, see if you can find some 243 heads. AND i hope your tranny and rear are in good shape otherwise expect more parts buying down the road. good luck!!
