quick question
One of my buddies bought a 6.0 crate engine cast number 12551364 that is brand new. Well I have a 99 trans am that has a rod that is bent pretty bad. I have not torn the engine apart, but it is knocking really bad. My buddy is deciding to go another route now, and is offering me the 6.0 for $2600. First question is, so I go this route? second, what would i need to make this work. I'm just trying to get my bird back on the road.
Thanks

It is a LQ4 6.0, do you want to modify it before swap? or just direct swap?
If direct swap, you'll need to change the crank balancer pulley with your one and just put all your peripherals back on. Probably your oil pan as well.
You'll find that alternator will be missing a bolt on the iron block, but that is not an issue, I run mine without. Some poeple drill and tap for a 3rd bolt, I never saw the necessity.
Besides oil pan and crank pulley it is a direct swap.

Not going to argue with you Pred, so take it somewhere else.
He has what he is calling a bent rod. He doesn't need a full long block. Why replace something he already broke with the same thing that will break again.
He can step up to a forged bottom end and alleviate having to worry about it again. Swap what he has over and be ahead of the game with 383 cubic inches. Touch up his heads a bit and and be putting down 450 hp and tq. (more if his get his heads worked by someone who knows what they are doing).
Why buy what you don't need and already broke once ?

WTF is your problem.
You jumped advertising 2600$ as the cost of a forged PRE, he was getting a brand new LQ4 (longblock since it is a "crate" motor), and you can't even see the corolation?
So we are supposed to mind read that you actualy meant a stroker LS1 assembly?
So before you start at me, read your own statements and pause (to think)
