Default stock LQ4 with a cam what should i expect?

I going to be installing a LQ4 in my 95 caprice drag car. It has stock everything with stock 315 heads. I want to install a carb intake and probably a 750 carb but wasnt sure what cam to use.
Its strictly 1/4 drag car with a TH400 3600 rpm stall.
I was hoping to have around 300whp with the right cam.

my question is if u guys think i should just stick with the GM hot cam or is it kinda outdated now?? and what kinda power u think i should be putting down with a stock cammed lq4?

If it's a full out drag car then do something big to make use of that carb intake! Those intakes like to twist in the R's and you'll need a bigger cam to make use of that. I was thinking something like a vindicator or a TREX would be my choice personally! 300rwhp wont be hard to make at all. The only downfall to the LQ4 leaving it stock is compression. They are only 9.4:1 compression. It would be real nice if you could score a set of LS2/LQ9 pistons to swap out before you drop the motor in there that way you can get that compression up.

this article talks about swapping a hot cam into an lq4...
http://www.carcraft.com/projectbuild...t_results.html
they said they got 480hp with headers, cam, and carb intake. the lq4 should be around 320hp stock. they claimed that the hot cam was pretty mild mannered so you could go with something more aggressive for just dragging

are the LS2 or LQ9 pistons direct swaps with the LQ4 rods??....if i do mill the heads how much nshould i mill them??...i want to run 93 octane at the most....and whatever cam i use i'm thinking i'll need new valve springs....

here is another question....i need a carb intake manifold thats design to fit a LS1 right?

I think gmpp and edelbrock sell intake manifolds you can mount a carb on top of. Pretty sure the lq4 and lq9 pistons are interchangeable but you might want to check. Lq9 pistons are flat while the lq4 are dished. flat topped pistons will reduce your piston to valve clearance along with a more aggressive cam

I would imagine a stock cammed LQ4 should be will over 300 rwhp, and should be good for mid 12's in your Caprice.
