Default Pac 28-1518 valve springs

Is it true you can run these springs with you stock locks and retainers and run up to a 650 lift cam, or say a ms3 or ms4 cam

Item Detail

Name:
PAC Single Beehive Valve Springs
Item#:
28-1518

The PAC single valve springs will use your factory seats, seals, retainers, and locks! We recommend stepping up to a dual valve spring kit if you plan to run more than .650" lift.

That is correct, however for over .600 lift I'd rather use a dual spring

Chris O or Allyn at Pac would agree.

Pac sells dual springs too.

I agree with speedinc on this one. Just bc they can handle .650 doesnt mean they are right for a cam with a .640 lift.

so as long as i stay under .600 lift i will be fine with these springs

It says there good for .650 lift so are you pushing your luck or something with these, and the duals would have no problem. Crazy they would rate it that high if you really should not run one that high

thanks for the info

a late reply but I run these springs with .609 lift. No problems, and I have heard nothing but good about these springs.

For the MS3, I like the PAC 1518 just fine! They are light weight, strong, and have a strong record of success.

For the aggressive intake lobe on the MS4, I'd recommend the PRC EHT .675" lift spring kit. The EHT chrome silicon makes for a longer life with these aggressive high lift lobes as compared to the standard .650" spring kits available, and give you a little "wiggle room" on the lift before coil bind!

We offer both (and have them in stock) at competitive pricing, and would be happy to earn your business! Let us know if we can help!

We have 17 sets on hand, good thing we buy in bulk. The sell point about these springs are a) they are nitrided b) they are proven c) they are made by pac d) they are inexpensive 5) you do not have to buy seats, seals, locks (super 7), or retainers to make them work.

Always give pressure at the corresponding height, otherwise the pressure doesn't mean much!

1.800" = 130 lbs
1.150" = 333 lbs
Spring Rate = 313 lbs/inch
Coil bind = 1.080"

Everyone says all of the beehive springs are a direct fit on your stock spring seat, but to me this is not true. The Inner diameter at the base of an aftermarket beehive (name your brand) is .885 and the ID at the base of a stock springs is .850". The stock spring locator measures about .840". I know people just drop these springs in and go but For me this was way too much lateral movement allowed at the base of the spring. The only spring locators I could find that were for a .050" guide and .885" spring were Ferrea's. Check out this thread...

bout to toss them on my car in 30 min i ran the stock LS6 springs with a cam @ .010 below the rating. I would think if a vendor says its good for .650 lift they have weeks or years of testing to verify the statistics. im just doing .570 lift but i wanted the pressure to keep good control of the valve with fast ramp rates. I only wish cam makers would give us more info for spring pressures Vs. acceleration rate vs lift!
