I can't answer your question but I have to ask why buy used lifters in the first place?

Why would someone sell lifters with "only 5K miles?"

parts not to buy used

Valves
Lifters
Rods
Springs

Just a few parts that you should really pass on unless they are yours and you know exactly what they have been through. These are the heart of your valve train and they can kill your engine very easily.

IIRC they keep themselves oiled alot better than older types and I think they have less friction on the cam. Im more than likely wrong but I have heard alot of ppl going with them because the new design. Someone smarter care to chime in?

From what I've read, LS7 lifters are just a revised part number of the stock LS1. Still not designed to handle aggressive cam lobes, and seem to fail anywhere from 5000-8000 miles when used with a an aggressive cam.

That said, I'm using them in my engine and it sounds like I have lifter tick after about 7000 miles. I plan on removing them and installing morels ASAP.
