Default best cam for motor only with longtubes

so i have QTP longtubes and am looking for a nice cam setup that i can run on the street. i have a 6 speed and a beast of a clutch. i would like to be in the 400 range if that is possible with cam only and still be able to drive on the street. smog is not important!

Checkout the Torquer 3 Camshaft. We've done tons of engine dyno testing & that camshaft is one of my favorite for making good peak power & making nice power across the board!

With my mods in sig, I did 423/382. Very street friendly with a good tune. Treat it as a cammed car (no trying to cruise at like 1700 rpm or anything) and its just fine. 242/248 111 lsa.

i would pick a cam in the 228 to low 230s. look at TSP, Thunder, or vengence.
Those sponsers have plenty of cams to choose from.

V3 is good for about 420 to the wheels. Also, a tr228 would be a nice choice.

v2, v3, or ms3. I suggest something in the 230's duration if you elect a cam not from the ones I mentioned

At first I was alittle scared I went too big, but I'm running a Trickflow 238/242 .595/.595 112lsa with my stock 241 heads ported, polished, and milled .040" and absolutely love it.
3,800 stall and stock gears can cruise at 1,500rpms with no issues, hit the go go pedal and its at the 7,000rpm redline before you know it and slamming into the next gear

Some thing you may want to think about is, your valve train and how hard some of these cam can be on the springs. I know the Texas Speed Torquer V.3 Camshaft requires aggressive double springs. Thats because the lobes are hard on the valve train. ESP lobes like the cam I posted in post#2 is very easy on the valve train. With this cam you can run the comp 918 spring. This cam was a custom ground cam spec'ed by PatG for a daily driver cam only M6 Z28 with QTP headers, much like your set up if not the same and made over 400 rwhp with a ton of power under the curve.

reverse split cam? wheres predator at?

edit: honestly man, i am not happy about selling 90% of my parts due to a medical discharge which is going to put me in the same boat as you.

what are your long term goals? can you see yourself getting rid of your car in the next 5 years? or are looking for a little more performance to tide you over until you get something else etc...?

judging by your post, (budget)
i would go with a tsp 228r or v3 (vengeance) and then down the road get some tsp heads, or tfs as cast (both heads under $1500)

me personally have a long term goal. im gonna sell my procharger stuff soon but im going to get an epp blower cam and build up the rest of the car so all i have to do is get the kit and im good.

do some searching for texas speed. they have some very informative threads about their cams and even have dyno sheets posted of most of their cams. take time and do some research. your looking at around 1k-1200 for a cam kit with installation.

So what Kind of HP with ported 243 Heads and a V3 Cam with an LS6 intake or is this combo even feasible if the heads are ported. Would I need to upgrade the intake to a fast 90/90.

That's the basic combo I have been thinking about personally, and was just curious as what I would see on the dyno with say a 2800-3200 stall A4 3.23 rear.

i can cruise along just fine in high gear at 1500-1700rpm.

233/233 cam...408rwhp

i suspect you could do the same with the Tv2 or Tv3

I am sure with a smaller cam in the 23x/23x range cruising around there is fine...I ment for my "large" 242/248 cam, 1700 isn't a great spot due to bucking and surging unless there is some Throttle. I am typically around 1700-2000 rpms when driving, but when I lift off the gas, you can feel it buck and surge if it drops to low. That is what I was refering too.
