Default new lifters or not??

i am redoing my motor and some people said i should go ahead and get new lifters?? i really dont have the money for them right now, but my car had about 98k miles on it also... and i had my tr230 cam in there for about 2k miles... should i get some with the new motor and which ones should i get.. i checked them out and they didnt have any scars on them at all... thanks, dwayne

Considering how difficult it is to replace them after the heads are on, I vote save the money and do it right so your not doing it later. My car had only 36K on it when a lifter dropped on JPR when he was building my engine. I have new lifters now, Comp-R I believe.

Replace them. I wish I had. Much cheaper to do it now.

during my head swap at 96k miles i swapped out my lifters with some new comps oe style ones. the stock ones didnt look all that bad but i figured since i had the heads off why not.

Not trying to steal this thread, but is anybody running the Comp R lifters, if so how do you set the preload on them?

I had a lifter go bad with only 47 thousand miles on my car. Replace it now!!!

It's worth the expense. On my first swap MTI SS1 I didn't but on my next one soon (maybe a 226/228 111 lsa) I will.
36K miles.
