Default Cam for z06? Want AGRESSIVE

Hey guys..
I want to put a CAM in the z06. I want to keep the stock heads for now. I want something agressive, but something that can be driven daily. Im very close to vette doctors and willing to make the trip to Cartek. What do you guys recommend. Car is totally STOCK right now, only had her for 1 month. My plan is to throw on longtubes and off road x before the cam.

Also what kind of power do you think ill make? What mph traps?
Thanx let me know..

You might want to elaborate a little more on what daily driven means to you, different people have different views on this topic.

You can make almost anything "streetable" with good tuning.

If you are looking for good power, decent lope, decent valvetrain reliability (20K mile spring swaps), I would go for the TR 224 on 112.

If you are looking for nasty power, nasty idle, hard on the valvetrain, I would go with the G5X2 and invest in a GOOD tune.

I think you could see around 410 RWHP with the TR224 and all of the boltons (Pulley, ported TB, !cats, LTs, intake)

That number would go closer to 430 with the G5X2

Hey, whats up CraZee.
Heres a little suggestion. In the July 2003 GM high-tech Perf. magizine SLP put one of there cams in a project ZO6. The article is called Apt Pupil. Anyways the used there own SLP cam which is .571/.571, 228/228 w/ 112 LSA.(LS6 cam is .551/.547 204/218 w/ 117 LSA) Along w/ LT's an ORY,some intake mods and tuning they had a jump from about 360hp to 416-420 hp.
Good Luck man.

Thanx for the info guys..
Daily Driving i mean..
Car is probably 1k miles a month. I usually drive it 5 days out of the week. I dont mind noises or not driving smooth as factory. My 2001 cobra making 514rwhp was driven everday so you could see where im coming from.

Is there any way to get one of those cams and not have to worry about vavle springs by upgrading to better ones? I will defnitely invest in the BEST tune. Im liking the g5x2, but how can i make it easier on the vavletrain. Cant i upgrade other parts for more reliablitly?

Sorry if there dumb questions, Im TOTALLY NEW to the ls1/ls6. I know a crapload on the modular ford motors
Trying to learn as fast as I can..

I dont have a 2003.. I HAD a 2001 COBRA with a Procharger D1SC.
Too bad a DUMP TRUCK thought it was time to KILL IT. Truely Missed RIP
But the z06 is more than making up for it.

Baisically i want this car running low 11s with drag radials reliably.

if you want a g5x2 or cams of the like then look into the comps 921 or crane duals. they are rated to .650 and are a dual springs. pretty much any new cam worth getting will need new springs; 918's a minimum or some manleys. cams with .600 lift or very aggressive ramps look into the duals. vavletrain is something you dont want to skimp up; broken vavles are . the tsp 231 will make some great power as well, its a little less aggressive then the g5 cams.

What size cam, roughly? I know Cartek is into and has excellent results with the "small" cams....

Just curious, Shawn

Call Sean at MMT. Their Vette ran a 10.87 cam only and that was with stock LS1 heads.

g5x2 : 232/240 .595/.609 112lsa. x3 specs have yet to be officially released to my knowledge but from what i hear the lift is similar and the durations are a tad bigger.

You'll love it.
