Default Spark Plugs

Time to change the old spark plugs, thinking of going with either a denso iridium or the new e3 spark plugs. Who has any experience using either?

Just to give you a heads up I have seen nothing but problems out of the E3s as in fouling with in a 1k miles. The Denson Iridiums will soon be replacing all of the AC Delco platinum plugs. So far they
seem to be decent plugs. They are pre gapped but do not re gap Iridium plugs the Iridium in the tip will crack and cause misfires or break apart and end up in the cat.

FWIW, I'm on my second WS6 6 speed and have run nothing but E3's in them both. 40k on the first car, 10 k on this one. My fuel mileage did increase slightly. I saw an episode on horsepower on spike tv where the E3 was compared to several other brands. It supposedly made 8 hp more due to the design being able to more efficiently burn the fuel mix.

I know that the denso's are proven to make more hp than other standard type plugs because of the u grove and the electrode is smaller burning at a higher temp.

you won't see any difference with a fancy plug.

$2 ngk's here and they've worked great.

as for HPtv getting power from the plugs....were the plugs they pulled out brand new? comparing 75K mile plugs to ANY new plug could yield 8hp.

if they put brand new plugs gapped properly in...dynoed...swapped to the E3s...dynoed...and saw 8hp that would be different.

but they don't do that...otherwise the sponsors would be mad

Go with the company thatspent the most money designing the plugs. Acdelco is the only way to go with an ls1. I blew my motor due to spark plug experimentation. Stick with stock

I blew my motor experimenting with bosch plugs. Use the company that spent the most money disigning a plug for that motor "aka" stock plugs. Ac delco for gm, motorcraft for ford. They are going to be your best bet. Just my .02
