Just installed the T1 cam...Is this normal?
Hey guys I just got finished installing a T1 cam and some used LS6 springs in my '99 Z and now I have a bad idling issue (but I just need to open up the TB idle hole some to fix that). Also I've got a real loud ticking noise coming from the engine that is kind of worrying me. It seems to make this ticking noise once every cam rotation. Did I mess something up or is this just the valvetrain noise that I heard about getting depending on the cam? Cam specs BTW are 221/221 .558/.558 112 Let me know what your thoughts are on this before I go and drive around a bunch.
TIA,
Ryan

put some miles on the car so the stock tuning can adjust fuel curves and such. since its a 112lsa it'll be pretty lopey and drilling out the TB a bit will help with idle. the normal vavletrain noise will sound like a sewing machine. i'd pull the vavle covers and chekc for a loose rocker or something.

I was told that the springs were '02s. They are blue though, so I asked one of the local shops if it is in fact an 02 and they said that they were. I've also been under the impression that '02 LS6 springs were rated to .600 lift max ??? Let me know if I made my decision with the wrong info and picked the wrong parts.

I have a T1 cam that MTI installed. They did drill the throttle body some and did LS1edit tuning. I had the 918 springs on there for 20000 miles. Now I have different heads with dual springs but the 918's held up good.

SLP lists the 02 LS6 springs as NOT being ok with .600 lift

I believe the T1 cam requires longer push rods for proper lifter preload. One T1 cam measured 1.495 diameter base circle. Stock is 1.552. This compensates for .03 milled heads with stock push rods.
If your heads are not milled then this is probably why you hear noise. If so you will need .03 longer push rods.

Do you think I could drive the car around for a while with these LS6 springs in the head if I just do easy city driving, until I get the 918s?
