Valve Train Life With Torquer 3
Hey guys I was looking into the torquer 3 camshaft and I noticed on the intake side the lift is very high. I was just curious to how long and how well the vavle train holds up. Any input would be appreciated. Btw the cam specs are 231/234 .643/.598. Also if any of you guys have a heads combo such as the 5.3L or LS6 heads with this cam what kind of numbers did you put down. I tried to search this and didn't have much luck. Anyways im curious to see how this turns out!

As long as you have stout springs you should be fine. Expect to change them every 10K miles or so because The Torquer v3 is pretty agressive on valve springs.

If you are buying the torquer 3 cam in a cam package from TSP you will have to go with thier new double springs. These springs were recently completely redesigned to be able to handle these more aggressive LSL and LSK lobes. From what I have heard geting 30,000 miles out of those springs even with that lift is not out of the question. You should give them a call, they have all the info you would need for it.

*Requires Aggressive Double Springs!
Ask them exactly what valvetrain parts you need to use to get those 30,000 miles out of this cam before you need to replace stuff. They should know better than anyone else because they designed the valvetrain package for this cam. Anyone else who responds who is not a valvetrain designer is just guessing.
Make sure they know how high you plan to spin it. That's very important.

I'm putting my motor together now...should be up and going with in the next week or so (still need to order pushrods and injectors). I am running the V3 with Lingenfelter Stage II LS6 heads. They came with PRC Gold Springs so I hope my combo runs well. Compared to what other guys are running, should be in the 410-430 RWHP range and I have a stalled A4. I'll keep you updated.

Yeah that's what I was afraid to hear. The intake lift is pretty high with the toruqer 3. But its making good power and sounds like a beast. But if I have to be checking/replacing the springs every 10k thats pretty often. I guess the best way would be to go and actually talk to Tsp. Emiliesman which injectors are you going with? If anyone else has this camshaft or similiar speak up!!

Damn that's horrible man. Maybe I should look into the torquer 2, for a little less amount of lift.
