Default Feel so lost on which cam?

Hey, I know there is more information on cams here than anyone would ever need, but i am so lost now. I have a m6 99 trans am. It is my daily that will see the track often and a few races here and there on the street. From what I have read the 228r would be a great cam for me, but it doesnt seem to have quite as an aggressive sound as I would like.( although youtube videos could be deceiving.) I would like to have close to 400rwhp, tq after i get a ls6 intake. So could i get away with a much bigger cam and still easily be able to drive on the highway and town daily?

Seperate question. Ok once i order the cam, what else will i HAVE to order in order to have it installed right. Since my car has 130k miles i should also get a new timing chain correct and a new oil pump? anything else.? Can all this be had for 800 or less?

Check out texas speed they have a great deal on cam package
Tv2 might be what your looking for with a 112 lsa should sound really nasty! or you can get the 228 but on a lower lsa like 110 and it would sound really good as well

haha..if you keep your current exhaust with no mufflers...you'll have all the sound you'll need.

ran a 3" xpipe with no mufflers for 6 months with my cam....it was not pleasant at all

You can easily dd a 23x/23x cam I've got the 228r and regret not going bigger. Made 399 uncorrected 384 corrected with shitty headers the powers there its a good cam and runs well just a bit mediocre for me. Needs a good set of heads and I think it will shine. I think the torquer2 is a better starting point.

You will need at the least. Springs, hardened push rods, might be able to get by with stock retainers and I'm not sure about the oil pump. I'd def upgrade tho. Its cheap and your gonna be in there anyway. I'd also get the ti retainers since you would be in there as well prob rightaround 800 or so for all depending on what exactly u buy. an ls2 timing chain is cheap insurance to esp. at 130k im sure afer the cam you not gonna exactly "baby" it lol

Torquer 2 is a good choice. Power numbers and mods in sig. As we discussed in the PM, B&R can get it done for that. With that mileage Id replace all that.

TSP is a great compnay.

I love my cam (VRX4)
but I do wish I had gotten something bigger (VRX5)

with that many miles I'd do an entire rebuild... But I just like having peace of mind...

I have two Torquer V2 cars one A4 one M6. I would stay with the 228 for a M6 car unless you have a bigger gear in the back. The 228 that my freind and i just got done tuning will walk my V2 M6 with all the same mods and i made 413/392 rwhp/tq with it.

There is also alot of power left in the 228 with heads and intake mods also, but the under the curve power/tq is unbeleivable compared to the V2

Torquer 2 is good for stock gears. But you will NEED to upgrade your springs/oil pump. Timing chain I'd do since your in there. As far as push rods, I think your fine with your set up you have right now. Either way, pushrods are one of the easiest things to replace if one ever fails.
