Default Essentials rebuild LS1 kit???

I am in the process of purchasing an LS1 and T56, right now with 68000 miles.
The block is a 99'..

The guy said it ran fine, and shifted fine, and I trust him. But I was just wondering if there was a rebuild kit, just to replace some essential parts?

What typically would need replacing on an engine with 68,000?

I was told that an LS1 rebuilt kit could be found for around 350 dollars..

What aftermarket parts should I go with, not cheap, but better than stock.. Im not going all out for HP, I just need a reasonable balance between price/performance..

Thanks for any help..

I hope you guys understand, because im a little gittery.. I've never purchased an LS1 ant T56 before.. weee

Assuming a solid 68K mile engine, you can save the $ and not rebuild it. If taken care of, and kept in reasonably stock form, these engines don't need a rebuild until 175,000-200,000 miles. I assume you aren't planning any big mods to the engine, since a stock LS1 in an S-10 should be blazingly fast. If that's the case, don't worry about the rebuild.

I've got 107K on my 99, runs like new.

I would leak the motor down to make sure the rings seal good espicially if it's been sitting for a while. Better to catch now than before it goes in the S-10. I got 26,000 miles motor that failed leak down 42 & 35 adjacent cylinders. It will have to at least be re-ringed. Just my .02
