Not trying to be a cheapskate, but I was thinking that if a new longblock from gm is being used, and the gaskets have not been heat-cycled, they should be reusable. Is that right? I'm just thinking in terms of putting my ported heads and custom cam in a new longblock....

The head gaskets may not have been heat-cycled but they have been smashed. Besides head gaskets you will also need new head bolts.

Some gaskets might be reusable, like water pump and stuff like that. Head gaskets should never be used again though.

All the factory metal gaskets are reuseable, like valley cover, front + rear cover, oil pan, and water pump if they are metal. Good luck

also u can reuse the intake manifold gaskets as well, just be sure that the new head is clean before putting it on.
