Default cam question

hey im doing a 5.3 turbo build and my buddy gave me a cam from his 00 ls1 i was wondering if you guys think i would benefit at all by switching out the 5.3 cam or should i just leave it in there im already gonna be right there cause i think im doing an ls6 oil pump thanks for any advice you can give me

I would normally say, put a cam in that makes better power, but if you are on a tight budget, if the cam is free, and if you are already into the motor, then why not. The LS1 cam has a little more duration and a little higher lift than the Vortec cam. I've heard it's good for maybe 10-15 HP.

yeah im on a budget and am running a stock lower end for now so i wasnt going to do a cam but i got this for free so i just wanted to know what some of you thought and see if it was worth my time to even put it in thanks
