Default Trigger finger is itching for one of these cams

No luck on the Comps hotline (always on hold). Thunder says both these will have okay PTV clearance:

99-TR-TRAK Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft
"TRak" - 231/234 .640/.590 112 LSA 2400-6800 RPM Power Band. Excellent mid-range &

99-TR-RapTR Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft
" RapTR" - 236/242 - .615/.615 - 111 lsa 3000-6800 RPM Power Band.

Or Texas Speed:

Texas Speed Torquer v.2 Camshaft
TSP XS Series Camshaft: Torquer 2 232/234, .595"/.598" Camshaft With Your Choice of Lobe Separation.

Texas Speed Torquer V.3 Camshaft
TSP Torquer v3 231/234, .643"/.598" Camshaft With Your Choice of Lobe Separation

I have stock unmilled heads but .040" Cometics. I like the looks of the RapTR if I don't have issues.

Wonder what my gains will be over the 224/228 .530/.537 cam I have now? I know my lobes aren't aggressive being designed for 1.85 rockers.

Some I'm sure. This cam being intended for 1.85s it isn't aggressive and I'm way down on lift. Just want to change cams and call it a combo until the day I go more cubes

Yeah and I bet your car works well with that cam. Wouldnt be surprised if you went slower with a cam change.

I love my RapTR cam. It pulls hard and with a good tune is very streetable. I had no issues with PTV clearence.

I have the exact numbers at home, but off the top of my head I believe the closest I got on the intake was .173 and on the exhaust was .151. That isn't exact, but damn close. More than enough clearence though. As far as track time and dyno numbers, I can't help you on that one. I haven't taken it to the track since the install (been too cold) and haven't done a dyno pull yet. I will post those here in the next few months.

Not sure who actually grinds it, but I have a TrickFlow 238/242 .595/.595 112 lsa, was in my 346ci, now in my 404ci with a 3,800 stall and absolutely love it. I was running a 220/224 before this cam, with the swap I felt no low end power loss and pulled a hell of a lot quicker and harder to the new 7,000 rpm rev limiter in my 3,600 lbs 4 GTO

call thunder and talk to shane he knows his ****. ive heard the raptor cam it sounds sick never seen one run though. One of my best friends has a track cam and it runs 11.8 spinning first gear like a 1.9 60 ft and it has a tune for a f-14 cam instead of the trak and still has ls1 intake.

I'll try to post a video over the weekend of mine. It does sound mean as hell.

He said it would fit. I do have the thinner Cometics which is minus .015" but my heads are unmilled and the 2.05 valves shouldn't make a huge difference. Given your numbers I should at the very least have .100" PTV.

This is the cam I'm going with.

Good luck! Hopefully, you'll get your desired results. Let us know how much your track times improve.

Will do! If I had Mondo springs the 1.85's with this cam would have been improved and workable. I know 10's will still be a stretch but I may change the lid and MAF later to get a little more out of it. I will take low 11's all day and get tossed before leaving.

Nope. Selling them and the 224/228 cam. Probably E-Bay it if nothing else.

Just got ordered. We worked today on figuring things out (Shane, Me and Patriot). Patriot measured valve drop on a set of LS6 Stage 2's with 2.05 valves like mine and got .120-.128. Shane said stock numbers are .158 so I am losing .030 there and another .13 to Cometics.

Should still put me at .100 at least (I hope) but shane also said you gain some clearance in an aluminum application as things heat up. Fingers are crossed!

Hope to see 430/410 or so out of it.
