Default 231/237 cam settings from racers....

I am trying to find out where the shift points should be?
What kinda of AFR others are using for NA?
And how much of a gain the cam only gave over last setup.

I installed mine last month, and then last week a LS6 Intake. At the track tonight it was warm and humid. I ran the same as I did with the LS1 Intake and TR 224 cam. WTF??? Same mph, and et.

I am shifting at 6200rpms, 12.9:1 AFR and 31* timing, no KR.

Thanks,

I'm right at 13.0:1 and 31* of timing, I shift mine around 6,300 or 6,400. Mine peaked on the dyno at 6,300. I would figure the big cam would be worth almost 20 or so rwhp over the 224 cam.

Yeah, me too. But I swear my car hates to run any faster. Like it hit a brick wall. I gained one mph from a two different cams, both tuned and now the LS6 Intake. Thats disgusting. There has to be something else with my car. Heads, thats what I have been blaming all along, but not sure. Even on spray I have basically maxed her out at 122mph, and I can get that from 150shot which pulls all the way, or a 200 shot which seems to stop pulling after it gets into it real good.

6200 RPM shift points certainly aren't optimal for that camshaft. If you're going for max ET, I would shoot for a 6500-6600 RPM shift point. We picked up 15 RWHP with the 231/237 in a '98 SS A4 over a 224 XE-R Comp grind. There are certainly some issues if you swapped to the 231/237 camshaft and added an LS6 intake and ran the same ET. How were the weather conditions on the two runs? That will certainly come into play.

Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions. We'll be more than happy to get your setup optimized.

only question now is how to correct the shift points with Edit. I have a thread in PCM but noone wants to answer.

I figured I would need to raise the limiters. Mine is actually at 6500 but I never changed the mph, so maybe its not right. Dont know.
