As cheap as oil pumps are, I would just get a new one.

you can get the specs from GM, and take it apart. you should measure, outer rotor to housing clearence, inner rotor to outer rotor clearence i beleive and outer rotor end clearence. just when you go to put it back together, dont tighten the cover untill you get it bolted to the block over the crank, then you have to make sure you have .002 on each side of the outer rotor to housing. then bolt the cover on. done.

Just buy a new one and save yourself the trouble. Pluse you will not have to worry if you did something wrong or not.

+1

If concerned about it, check as noted above. Otherwise, buy from an honest seller w/ a history & ask about the mileage. I'd buy used if under 40K miles. It's a gear pump & shaft mounted; a solid set up. Nothing wrong w/ buying used if on a budget. Should also be using a true oil pressure gauge.

BTW, I have bought a used pump from a member posting in this thread & it works great.

What is the oil pressure now? If its good I would be more comfortable reinstalling the stock one, at least you know what its been through. Do use a new o-ring and make sure its the right one.
