2001 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Stock 1/4 at 13.5??
Hey i was just wondering how these dam camaros with the ls1's run so good and how the get trap speeds like that. A 2001 Camaro Z28 was tested and got 13.5-13.8. weighing 3,439 lbs, and producing 310 HP, and 340 lbft of torque. but a stock 1968 Dodge Charger R/T Hemi with a 426 Hemi in it ran a 13.7, producing an underrated 420 HP, and 490 LBFT of torque. weighing in at 3,500 lbs... this does not make sense to me... although the Camaro is a little less the little added weight to the charger should not affect the 420HP and the massive 490 LBFT of torque.... explain.

They might have "Said" the Camaros and TAs made 310hp, but it was the same as the Vette rating, 350hp and 365tq. Even that is sometimes a conservative rating. I've seen bone stock Z's make over 320 to the wheels which would be about 360-365 crank. My 2000 Z28 which was "Rated" at 305hp from the factory put down 317 to the wheels with just a really filthy K&N w/stock air lid, Flowmaster 80 Series muffler and 3.42 rear end, this is an A4 car. Went 12.92 in the 1/4 with only adding a Lid, Diablo Programmer and 255/50/16 MT ET Streets. So don't always believe what GM claims the factory HP to be on some of there cars. The Underrated the Camaro and TA to keep the numbers under the Flagship Vette.
Edit: Also Transmission and rear end gearing can play a part in 1/4 mile times too.
