Default 243 head valve job/sizes

looking for best gains on my 243's

there going to get fully P&P so im considering a valve Job and bigger valve's

stock size are 2.00" & 1.55"

i've been looking at TSP/Livernois/ patriot - number's

2.02 & 1.57
2.05 & 1.57
2.08 & 1.60
2.10 & 1.57

Been hearing 3-angle for track / 5-angle for street . . .

what would be the best combination..

you will get different answers for this depending on the builder, and most shops won't tell you what angles they use..i believe a builder posted on Hardcore LS1 what they were using on a test about a year or so ago, can't remember if it was stock or aftermarket 243s..and if you search on here i think someone posted what they used, stock castings were used but don't know if they were 243s..
FWIW the best angles to use will depend on the port job,or how it approaches the seat, and if any combustion chamber work has been done..

how big is the bore of the engine you will be using these heads on?that determines how big of valves you can use in the head. how much is this head rebuild going to cost you? TSP sells stage 2.5 heads from $1100-1400.bigger valves and cnc porting.

Yes how big the engines bore is will determine if if you can even use the big 2.08 and 2.10 valve sizes. They usually need a 4.00" bore and the combustion chamber would be opened up around them.Once you go bigger than the 2.02 valve you will need to replace the valve seats with bigger ones-no real problem but it will cost more. You can see why stage 2 or 3 heads cost more-more machine work.I would use the smaller valves unless this is a stroker motor that needs all the airflow you can get.

5.3 (3.78 bore)

2.02 & 1.57 would be the best bet w/out having to change seats ......
