Default Cubic inches on the cheap

I don't know all the combo/designations of the blocks and cube combos but wanted to start looking for pieces for a larger cube motor on down the road (or if I blow my **** up).

So what block is used for the 370, 383, 402, 408 combos? Any glaring advantages of one versus the other and especially $$$?

6.0 block for 370...just bore it and get pistons, or for real cheap go with the 366ci it has. if your going to 402 or 408, thats a new rotating assembly all together.

383, is stroked LS1, basically bore it (small, no more than 3.905) and get a rotating assembly.

id say on the cheap is 370, pistons and new bearings will go a long way, and it opens your options to heads for 4in+ bore size (L92s.....)

ill let others chime in with other ci options on the cheap. ive been looking too and the 370 caught my eye, beings it has 24 cubic inches on a LS1 and a 4in bore, seems pretty sweet.
