Default First attempt at hand porting, opinions please

I was able to get my hands on a junk head to practice some porting before tackling the 317s. Worked out perfect to see where my boundaries are. To the people that have done this before, what do you think?

Edit: Building the motor for boost.

Exhaust

now sandblast the insides to smooth it out. looks like bolt-hole break through in the 3rd/7th shots. Isn't there enough material on the exhausts to gasket-match them?

Better than I can do.

Do you have a flow bench to see if you helped or hurt flow?

I use an actual head porting kit to clean up after the die grinder. Couple of sand rolls and a little cross buff action will do wonders!

I don't have access to a sandblaster, and that is a break through as there is on any professionally ported head. I will be running stock manifolds so I will have to port match the exhaust side.

No access to a flow bench. Yeah I have that kit, I used this kit for the majority of the material removal, then followed with 40grit rolls, I plan on bringing the exhaust side to 120.

when you do your "for real" head, dont do anything to the short side radius with the burr. just clean it up with a cartirge roll. the short side radius is the most critical part of a runner and its designed to work like it should the way it is.

basically, dont do much on the bottom of the runner. focus on the "roof" and the sides.

On the intake side, the rocker bolt (or stud in my case) will partially protrude into the port (at least a corner of the bolt). Since I had studs for my roller rockers, I installed the studs with the head off the car and then I carefully used a dremel to smooth down the stud to match the port walls.
