5.3 LM7 vs 5.7 LS1 block differences?
Tried this earlier but may have dropped out.
I want to bore my 5.3L truck block from 96mm to 99mm and use the "stock" LS1 pistons and compression. I verified the crank and rods are identical to the LS1, seems like only difference is iron/alum and bore. It would be a very economical way to get a boost in cubes and save some money on internals.
Rumor has it that some F-body folks have done this type of conversion. Other rumors say there is not enough meat on the 5.3 block to do this.
Any help would be well appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Thanks, fastss. If I don't get any responses by Fri I am going to have the block sonic checked for thickness and go from there. I was hoping to save the $75 but oh well. I'll post results when the verdict comes in!

DaleMX, thank you very much! You just saved me the $75 sonic check. I do feel stupid for not searching very well, thanks again for helping out.
The line bore, hone, and decking will be $250 total. This is as cheap as any used block out there, although I will still be using cast iron. I'll keep updating the progress and results, hopefully within the next couple of weeks.
