Default LSR cams

so i was looking into getting a cam for my trans am and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the LSR cams. i have stock ported heads 9not much difference) and long tubes. the cam i was looking at was the 54-459-11 231/239 .617/.624 113LSA. any input or suggestions? this is mostly a street car and not much track time...but it is not my daily driver, that is what my jeep is for. but i don't want the cops to arrest me every time i try to drive it either...lol

That cam you are looking at is a 9* overlap cam. It will not pass cali emmissions and it will lope pretty hard. (hard enough to that any dumb *** will know it is cammed and not Cali compliant)

You need to look at cams with -4* or less overlap to have a chance at passing Cali sniffer with a good tune.

i don't need to pass smog, or emissions. the cops thing was a semi joke, and i am moving to Colorado after i get back from Afghanistan, so i don't have to worry about emissions. i want a cam, that sounds good, not so lopy so it sounds like it is dying when it idles but enough to be intimidating to anyone sitting next to me, and any mustang that thinks he has a chance. my usuall shift point on the street is 2600 to 3000 so i am looking for this LSR cause it looks very promising or another good cam that makes good power worth a cam swap.

I think that cam would be a decent choice then from what you are saying. The LSr cams use LSL lobes so you can also do a custom cam if you want to tweak it a little different from that as far as LSa or durations besides what Comp has on the shelf. We use those lobes a lot but also switch to a good double springs as well like the Patriot X-Treme or PRC doubles etc.

I've used the same LSR cam in a 02 convertible SS A4 with a ported 92 setup stock heads and similar mods with a track tuned it went 11.74 in full street trim drag radials on the stock 17's no weight deletion. The car is a full street car with good manners and plenty of usable power and it has a very broad power range with an intimidating sound. You wont be disappointed.
