Default Need your thoughts.

Alright, the mods on my car now is..

Longtube headers, 3in xpipe w/ bullets dumped, 3.73's, lid... 4kstall not installed. No tune, runs fine...

My plan was to go cam only do to my budget, but I just got a high paying job and can afford more so I bought a set of 799 ported and polished heads from AES (same as ls6 heads), and a LS6 intake..

Now my question is, if I just install the heads and intake without a cam and leave the stock stall what will this car approximately make power wise, and drive like? And should I have more power than a stock ls6 engine due to the ported heads and headers?

Thx Aaron.

Either heads/intake OR cam will net you most likely more power. For the money, cam is cheaper than heads/intake. You do the work yourself or having it done? Exhaust change alone isn't necessarily worthy of a tune, but it won't hurt. If you do either H/I or cam, a tune is strongly recommended. Good luck.

Labor will be done by me and a good friend of mine.. Reasoning on H/I setup is for the element of surprise.. Would a mail order tune be sufficient? And a cam and stall could be installed in the future but not yet in the works.

mail order can go either way, but each car is different and the MAF is an important part if you're doing a regular tune. If you're going speed density (MAFless) then thats one less thing to contend with. Some swear by the dyno-tune which focuses on WOT. I on the other hand prefer a street tune with a HUGE range of gears & RPM for the tuning. I used a full tank of gas making innumerable runs up and down feeder road and highway speed runs to ensure the computer knew what to do at ALL RPMs vice just the ones above 5000. I don't know Kentucky, but if you're anywhere close to Memphis, theres bound to be reputable tuners there. Good luck.

Should this car drive any different, by different I mean will it have any bottom end power..

And does anyone know an approx. HP/TQ number? I know there's almost no way to really know the answers but i'm not sure at all so people with experience plz chime in.

Well I had a friend a while back that did this and he was very happy with the results. He got a Dyno tune but I don't see anything wrong with mail order tune.
