Oil / oil pump questions.

Oil / oil pump questions. When i first got my 02 T/a it would idle slightly above 40psi and near 60 during normal driving. Now a couple years later, 80,XXX miles (the gauge, which i know are known to not be accurate) reads below 40 at idle and slightly above 40 at best when driving.
My questions are..
1.) is this the oil pressure sending unit going bad? the pump going bad, or both possibly?
2.) what's the best oil pump replacement, OEM one or something else? {currently it only has intake & exhaust work done to it put i'm planning more down the road} (cam/heads)
