Any cam custom or not will give you about 20 to 30 rwhp depending on the mods you have and what your needs are. What a custom ground cam will do is determine the best cam profile for any engine combination. A custom ground cam takes into consideration these few things port flow numbers valve sizes, valve seat angles, type of heads, intake manifold etc etc. The one thing you want is to have the most accurate flow numbers of your heads as possible if your heads are ported if they are not a true cam designer will know un-ported heads.

Also take into consideration what your car is going to be used for that will factor what your cam profile will be like also.

I have an A4 and i have a custom grind from Ed Curtis.

Saw this kinda late but i will try and help. On a stock stall i wouldnt go past the 224 range. If a stall is in order u can always go a bit bigger. With the stock stall u wanna keep some good low end or u will suffer tons from a dig. just like my poor truck ha. That will be my next mod. U dont need .600 lifts either on stock heads. hope that helps a bit.

Get a 3200-3600 stall, get a cam 230/230 or less, and lift below .600. The LSA is up to you if you want a choppy idle (112) or smooth(114). I like the TSP 228R, very fun power under the curve and great for the acceleration junkie who doesn't want a "race car".
