Default crank

Where did it break at ?

You should find another LS1 crank cause if you go to any other, i e LS2 LQ4 or 9, the crank balance will be different because of the heavier pistons.

With another ls1 crank, the balance should be close enough for a stock engine.

However, if you find a cheap crank out of a ls2 or lq4, should cost around + - $200 to get the rotating ***. balanced. Which might be a good thing if your going to change cam/heads n such....

Your crank broke or got scarred up? I'm confused.

How on earth did you break it? Was it in a manual transmission car?

looks like a spun rod bearing to me. It looks like it took a lot of material off the rod journal. If too much material is gone you may not be able to have it turned. I would find a used crank in the classifieds.

Agreed. See if a machine shop can measure it and they might be able to machine it.

**** I thought you broke it. See if there's enough meat left to get it turned. If not, drop $100 on another crank.

Just get another stock crank if it won't clean up.

grounding is your best bet...it will even take off some weight, that has got to be good for like a ET reduction of 0.0000000001 or something

I was hoping to see some carnage pics! I figured something stupid happened to break a stock crank and all I got was some spun bearing pics!

So the crank was to far out and they hooked you up with a replacement? Was the oil pressure good? What kind of RPM's were you turning?

Cool you got a new crank but something caused that to happen. Make sure you fix it before you put the new crank in and get the same result. There is a good chance the rods that had spun bearings need work/replacing too.

long story, my first build the rocker arm bolt got stripped so I got it fixed(helicoiled), ended up swaping the heads to my new build and the helicoil held up fine. Finally made it to the dyno and once we started making some good number I started having problems, first I ran out of injector, so I put in some bigger injectors, bbk intake and throttle(up from stock ls1), mms crank pulley and 3.2 procharger pulley. Back to the dyno and now my map sensor is acting up. Turns out I had four broken wires on the engine harness. Back to the dyno. Now im getting valvetrain noise at idle. The rocker arm ripped out the helicoil and broke the rocker arm stand and lifter. I replaced the lifter and the head but I think some of the lifter got down into the motor. The carnage is in my wallet. One of the rods was damaged, they are eagle h-beam forged. Oil pressure was really low after the lifter replacement but not in the red. As soon as I put the procharger belt back you could hear some noise, then It just got worse and worse.
