Default Z06 cam with 243 heads and no tuning

Hey guys just installed z06 cam and 243 heads on my ws6 with the stock tune idles fine (revs go up and down a bit at idle sometimes) just wondering if I should take it easy until I get I tune? Or is it going to be okay at WOT? Will the maf recalulate the fuel added with the air? Or am I risking engine damage running to lean or rich at WOT

That way you know its safe, and you'll get the most out of your mods.

Yes def get a tune, really wake that thing up.

No offense, but why go through all the trouble just for such small gains of a Z06 cam?

Broke a valve with my stock heads due to crappy 98 push rods so I got a 243 heads already assemabled didn't feel like swapping springs just wanted the car running so I put a cam in that matched the springs, for a shitty cam pulls pretty good higher end I just hope I don't break anything els from stomping on it without a tune

Ah I'm sure you'll be fine. Are you getting a dyno tune or mail order?

Dyno tune I just been busy at work mybe I'll have time next week to get it done, before the h/c my m6 threw down 306 to the wheels with just long tubes plus I added ls6 manifold while I was doing a swap so I hope to get similair numbers to the ls6's

Your LS1 tune is probably lean at WOT if that's an 02+ cam and 243s, so I'd tune it before getting medieval on that bad boy...

Those numbers seem low to me, bolt on M6's should be putting down at least 325-345rwhp. I think after all your mods you'll put down 345-355rwhp...

DesertLS1, my T/A and I agree with your calculations...

You can see my bolt-ons and LS1 dyno numbers, and my LS1 was all stock including the intake. I put down 308/324 before tuning.

This is all on a Mustang dyno, so bump my numbers 15-20 to compare them to a generous dyno...

I'm hoping for around 375-380 from the LS6 with all the same bolt-ons.

Should run fine, I wouldn't get crazy with it until it gets tuned though. Street tuning is usually around $250 with a wideband, just bite the bullet.

Heck a stock LS6 tune would probably be fairly close. Assuming these are you ronly real mods.

Don't take a chance. Drive it, but drive it easy. Don't take a chance with something that will cost so much to fix. Get it tuned or get a mail order tune.

It can be done. Why is the question. If you save the money for the upgrades save a little more and get it tuned. There are no down sides to getting it tuned. Other than having to pay for it I guess.
