Default My 99 LS1 bottom end stenght???

I'm doing a head and cam swap on my 99 Vette. My car is a 6-speed manual with the fallowing mods:

-LG Street Headers with high flow cats
-80mm throttle body
-Magnaflow Magnapack cat-back
-LS6 intake manifold
-Vararam VR-B2 intake system
-Ram Powergrip HD clutch
-Yella bullet steel flywheel
-LS6 slave cylinder
-Hypertech 160* thermostat

The car put down 330rwhp on the dyno. My goal is to make 400rwhp or more. Here what's going in:

-Port/Polished LS6 heads
-Thunder Racing LS2 Cheatr Camshaft 215 int/230 exh .629/.592 117 LSA
-Patriot Performance shaft mount rocker arms 1:7 ratio
-Crane Cams double valve springs
-LS2 timing chain
-LS4 ported oil pump
-LS7 lifters
-Fast 36lb fuel injectors
-LS6 pcv convertion kit
-Katech rod bolts
-ARP head bolts
-SLP Harmonic balancer

With 65000mis (or 105000kms) on the clock, will my stock bottom end be strong enough for these mods or is there any other precautions I should take? Also I have replace the oil pan gasket to fix a leak, with that in mind would it be better to do this job with the engine out of the car?

Cant do much more, except refreshing the internals...If youre not going crazy high in rpm, should be good. Good luck with your build.

So it's not horsepower that kills these motors, it's engine RPM. Because I was thinking about going from 6000 to 6800 RPM. Would that be ok consdering I'm running with the Katech rod bolts or should I just stick it at 6500rpm just to play it safe?

You'll be fine. From the research i have done, 500 is about where the bottom end becomes a concern. Dont expect to get 200,000 miles out of it with the added power, but you should be fine for quite some time.

Lol I don't think the motor will be seeing 200,000 miles without a rebuild. Do you mean 500 at the crank or at the wheels?

It looks like you are taking care of everything possible to strengthen your valvetrain. As long as you stay beneath 7000rpms your motor should stay together, especially with the new rod bolts you will be using.

That's the whole idea, I wanna elimate any weak links that could be a problem. I'm just making sure that I have a strong foundation to work with for my horsepower goals (400rwhp or more).

I am at 100k miles, and still turn 6500-7k rpms regularly on my 99 bottom end. Stock rod bolts....time bomb? Possibly. But for the 20k miles I have had on my H/C set up, I have had no issues. You replacing the rod bolts and everything, and since that cam doesn't really need to see too high of rpms (cam starts to run out of steam around 6400 doesn't it?), your bottom end should be fine, I would imagine.

Actually Thunder Racing says that the camshaft's power band is from idle to 6800 rpm. Which is where I would like to redline, considering that's where it makes the most power.
