Default 224/234 cam

Sorry for another cam question. I tried the search with no success. Has anybody ever used this cam? I already have headers, and am thinking about this cam, or a 224/228 I will also add 243 heads. This combo will be used on an C5 automatic. Thanks for your help.

Why such a wide split with headers and 243's on your C5?
Do you plan on adding a blower/nitrous, or just want to keep some power down low?
IMO, a 224/230 or a 226/230 would be a better choice.

You'll also need to go with a higher stall speed Torque Converter, to get the most from whatever cam you choose.

Another good option is to contact Geoff At EPS and have him spec you a custom cam, or get one of his 224/230 cams.

Hard to say whether a cam is good for you if we don't know anything about your car or how you will use it. We know its 346ci, has an auto, that you have headers, and plan to upgrade to 243 heads.

What are the rest of the cam specs? LSA/ICL? What do you want from a cam swap?

Is this a daily driver? Weekend toy? Soon to be track car?

Do you have a converter or gears?

10 degrees is a wide split for heads that have a decent exhaust to intake ratio (70-80% is the usual spread on LS1 and LS6 heads). Looking only at duration, that cam may be better suited to L92/LS3 heads which have much stronger intake port, and correspondingly lower exhaust to intake ratio.

Ideally, you should have a converter first, then match the cam to the rest of your setup. Even a stock A4 LS1 car can gain .3 - .5 or more in the quarter with the right convertor. 224/228 cams with the right valve events make for great all around power, but your drivability at low speeds can suffer with the stock stall.

Any advance/retard ground into the cam? (needed to evaluate valve events)
