Default What PR Length?

01 Vette LS1
AFR 205 Heads - Stock gaskets as far as I know
LG X2 - 232/240 - .595 intake / .608 exhaust.
Comp 7.4 rods
Stock Rockers

Question is that I seem to have a stock lifter failing (Stock from 01')

If I go with the LS7 lifters (supposedly .05 taller). What would be the correct PR Length?

Thanks,

Depends, are the heads milled at all? I would suggest a 7.350 but that also depends on the base circle of that cam as well. It probably has a stock or smaller base circle though.

Assuming pushrods were correct, the same ones. From what I understand, the height is taller but the recommended plunger position within the lifter is also different and therefore the same pushrods are used. Makes sense as why would GM introduce a lifter that is the replacement lifter for all LS motors that requires new pushrods be used.

Normally larger cams have smaller base circles, no? I never thought LG put it together correctly in the first place as it was a bit noisy. I would think this was because they used stock sized 7.4" rods when they should have used a longer? one for the smaller base circle of the cam.

The way I thought is that if it should have had a longer one to begin with for the smaller circle of the cam, than the ls7 lifters should put me in the correct place, no?

The heads are not milled at all that I know of, they were brand new, and I'm assuming just installed.

Thanks again,

The LS7 is a drop in for the LS1 lifter. Height difference vs preload difference makes it a wash.
