04 gto cam in 5.3 engine
Hi, Have a simple question about installing a 2004 gto cam in a 2005 5.3 truck engine, can it be done or does the cam sensor placement in these engines force you to use an earilier cam like a 2001 zo6 cam, thanks for the help.

i don't think it will help any tho... the 5.3's have small intake valves, so the stock cam has a slight reverse split to offset that, i think something like a 189/187, on a 114lsa... the 5.7 cam is like a 198/208, on a 115 i think... u'll gain a little up top at the expense of low end, which the truck needs...

that is the cam specs for a 04 gto the truck has the same lift and the duration is 191 190 and on a 114 lsa the duration could be backwards on the truck specs not sure but thats the two numbers anyways.
you will gain nothing with this cam compared to the one in the 5.3.
if anything get a 2k vette cam its a 198 207 500 500 115.5 I picked up 3/10's along time ago with my rcsb 5.3 truck and this cam over stock, good luck.

gto cam
I would have never guessed the cams had the same specs....thanks for the info, the motors going in a 70 gto with an sts turbo so low end truck torque shouldnt be a problem.
