you can pull to 6100 with the stock cam for powerband...
I made an excel dyno sheet with transmission calculations...
shifting at 6100 is optimum with the t56 on 3.42's .. I pulled the stock cam to 6500 for testing

I was under the impression that the stock cam started falling at 5500?

it does... but you dont male less power in that gear till you hit about 6100..
above 6100 you would make less power at the wheells and it would be pointless to stay in that gear..
