Default colder plugs question

i was wondering if running a colder plug in a stock ls1 would help with detonation. my car has been pinging at high rpms on hot days. so i was thinking if i put a colder plug in i can get the temps down a bit to prevent detonation. has anyone done this. i know i could risk fouling but i would do anything to prevent the horrible ping.

Try doing a Seafoam treatment first, then swap the plugs. Carbon build-up can cause the pinging (if you are stock) or high coolant temps.

Put a Tr6 plug in and see if it fixes it. I've got a BR7Ef in mine right now and I can feel I've lost some na power by going 2 steps colder. It is great for the nitrous though.

It's just in your head, going colder on the plugs will not lose any appreciable power. On motor I ran the same times/mph at the track with TR6 and ngk -8 plugs, back to back runs within 2 hundredths and .3 mph.

Maybe I'm getting used to it, well guess I need to throw on those heads I've got.

I just finished a cam install in my car last week. It was backfiring/predetinating like crazy. Under WOT, it would studder a lot. I had the NGK TR55 Iridium XI (i think) plugs in. Gomer suggested they were too hot, and that I throw in the regular TR55 copper cores, and it's been doing fantastic since the change!

Hey aren't you the one I helped out a lil bit with the cam install?
