Default camshaft change

hello ls1 tech fam. im performing a cam swap in a '02, lq4 and read that once the bolt used to hold the balancer in place, on the crankshaft, was removed, it cant be reused. T or F? also what size pushed rods are needed for the hot cam? the springs im gonna use r the ls3 springs. i got them for the low low. thanks.

Factory bolt is torque to yield and should NOT be used again. ARP bolt can be reused.

Save the factory bolt though to do your initial 240 ft. lb torque sequence then put on your new bolt and retorque to 70 ft. lbs and then 135*-140* past 70 ft. lbs if using a gm TTY bolt. I don't recommend using your old bolt to push the pulley on the crank snout though as you risk stripping the crank threads.

You can make a tool out of threaded rod a few washers and a couple bolts from a hardare store to push the pulley on for $6-$8 if you wanna be safe.>>>>>>https://ls1tech.com/forums/tools-fab...tall-tool.html

The proper torque is 37 ft lbs, not 70.
