Default Got my first Ls1 build started

So i just picked up a motor with a spun rod bearing and i plan on building it up. I had the boost option or the naturally aspirated option. I think i wana do naturally aspirated since my original goal was 500rwhp. Any ideas on what would be best, heads, stroke kit, cam, etc.... thanks

You can do nitrous on a higher compression motor with no problems.

No offense met, if you dont know the answer already you really need to start doing some research.

500rwhp with a "beefy NA build" isnt easy and I would again just start doing your research.

well i am learning alot right now. so high compression can handle nitrous, what determines how safe or unsafe that is. dry shot.

What is it that you are building. Give some info and maybe we can help but as of right now we have no idea if your building an LS based engine or a Yugo.

If your going with a 383 a good head, cam intake exhaust and a good tune, should put you right there. look a my sig and all is done with a stock bottom end 346.

ok sweet....

so do you think its worth stroking it to a 383 or work it as a 346. would it be worth the money. and i also found this kit, what do you think of it....

I would get it from a trusted site like D'Agostino or something...eBay parts always end up messing up for some odd reason...

yeah i dont like the idea of ebay parts either.... also another big thing is affordability, i want to do this right and yea its fine its fine to take time on this project, but i want to budget build it as much as possible. what do you guys think, not worth stroking then?

My advise I also get a lot of stuff of ebay, but when it comes to internals I would not go anywhere but a good provider like Texas Speed and such places. If anything goes wrong with lets say pistons, rods, crank, you can always go back and see if they can help. Texas Speed has great customer service and stand behind their product.

Now you can use a 346 as you can see by my sig but NA 500 rwhp is very hard on an 346. Do a good H/C/I/E and some sort of fi and you will be there. Now another point is this.

Don't chase numbers so much. Chase performance, numbers are a byproduct of what you do to yoru engine to get it to perform at an optimal level.

Good luck.

I would do a mild stoke and forge the internals and run a hella lot of nitrous..but for a N/A you should do at least a 383..heads and other things(bolt ons, tune)

Why not get your own parts and make your own kit..some used parts would be okay..

My friend did a WS6 LS1 stock bottom end with 113K on the engine. He did his own T76 set up and when I say it was his own. he bought the turbo on ebay and did everything else himself. His final numbers before he crashed the car was 625/690 rear wheel numbers.
