Default For those that have pulled/installed the motor from the top.

Just curious, did you have a hell of a time with the motor mount pedastal holes when trying to line up the motor mounts on the engine with the pedastal like you do when you install poly mounts, or is it easier since you have the transmission disconnected? I'd be installing the engine and then the transmission after. Thanks guys.

I took my tranny out first from the bottom and then the engine out the top. This gives you plenty of room to work, and make sure the motor mount is not 180 out. The motor mount will go on 2 ways but only one way is right The tab needs to face UP!

obviously people complain about this task and have problems, but for you who have done it, actually how hard is it to remove from the top after tranny is off?

I just finished up my car last month and it really isnt that bad. I would of had the engine out in about 3 hours or so if it wasnt for my slp longtubes but I had to pull the trans to get it back in. I have always pulled them from the bottom(100+) when I worked at the dealership and performance shops but I no longer had a lift available and did my personal car in my garage and from the top. I would say 5 hours out and 8 in and running if you are not really fast and have had them out before. Good Luck

I pulled my engine/tranny from the top real easy... The engine motor mounts aren't difficult imo.

I've put poly mounts in my car just never pulled the motor. Did the ls7 clutch too. That's pretty cool tho u pulled it transmission and all lol. I was just worried about the mounts because they were kinda a pain to put in in the car. I'm planning on putting a 6.0l in it this fall/next spring.

they say once the poly mounts break in a little they are much easier to line back up a second time.

I pulled mine from the top. i just unbolted the trans and bell housing but left the clutch and flywheel. i also pulled mine out without the heads on it like the guy above did...i think that mad it alot easier.

Default Out the top is COOL

Did mine out the top in a smaall *** garage. Tranny off is better for accessing the block grounds.

No problems, did a thread on it search "LS OUT THE TOP"
